Daylight Savings Changes for 2008
Recent changes to Australian Daylight Savings Time can cause calendar and system time related issues during the week of 31st of March. Starting from this year, daylight savings will end a week later, on Sunday 6th of April 2008.

Under normal circumstances, your server, workstations/laptops, PDAs and organisers automatically adjust for the new time however this year you may experience instances of incorrect system time or calendar items displaying 1 hour earlier than scheduled.

Manually changing the system time will not resolve the issue and is not recommended, instead updates from the systems vendors should be applied. Some of the server updates are available by request only (not instant download), due to this and added complexity, we encourage you to take advantage of our expertise to deploy these updates. If you would like us to apply the update to your system, please contact us.

Linux (Asterisk, Trixbox, SugarCRM, etc)

  • yum install php-devel gcc tzdata -y
  • pecl install timezonedb (this may not be required on older builds, if you receive a message of unknown command, continue to step 4)
  • Edit php.ini and add "extension=timezonedb.so" under Dynamic Extensions section
  • service httpd restart
  • Check "Server time" under Trixbox gui or within SugarCRM

If you have an older RedHat based linux distribution (ie Fedora Core 1, etc), you should still be able to install newest tzdata rpm (replacement for step 1). Its been reported that on older Trixbox 2.2/CentOS 4, steps 2-3 are not required.
